How to Power Up Your Sigil Magic with Astrological Symbols

Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of people on the internet incorporating astrological symbols (particularly the planets) into their sigils.

For some, it’s an aesthetic thing. Astrological symbols look cool. Using them makes you look smart, and making sigils that match your aesthetic and make you feel good does mean you’re more likely to use them.

As a bonus, in magic, the more meaning you can stuff into your spells the better. Astrological symbols are full of meaning, which means they’re a great addition to your sigils, right?

Yes… As long as the symbol you’re using goes along with what you’re trying to achieve.

The planets have correspondences and energetic personalities of their own. Humanity has been telling the universe that planetary symbols mean certain things for generations. Trying to change the significations of the planets to suit your sigil is fighting hundreds of years of history and the work of some very powerful magicians that I, frankly, wouldn’t want to cross.

The meanings that humanity has already applied to those squiggles will contribute to your sigil regardless of your intentions, and those meanings will impact the energy of your sigils.

If you’re out of Red Bull and need energy, for example, Mercury is your friend. Saturn is not.

When making a sigil, it’s important to be aware of the planetary correspondences and the planet’s energetic personality.
